The PTSO is made up of Parents, Teachers and Student representatives from grades 5-8.
The purpose of the PTSO is to enrich school life and bring the school community together as a whole. We do this by supporting and creating school wide events. We welcome the participation of all ECS families and teachers, as our events are planned, organized and run by volunteers. We encourage all parents and staff members to attend our monthly meetings where pizza and childcare is provided. The PTSO depends on volunteers for all its events so we strongly urge you to become an active member of the PTSO.
Some of our events include:
The Weave Breakfast and Annual Book Fair in September
Halloween Party in October
Kuumba Day in December
Italian Dinner Night in January
End of the Year Picnic in June held in Columbus Park
During the first meeting in September an executive board of officers is elected by the parent body in attendance. Student representatives are elected in November by the 5-8th graders, a boy and girl from each grade.
To help fund the PTSO we ask all families to contribute in $25.00 in dues for the year in September. With these dues and other monies raised throughout the school year the PTSO sponsors:
After School Enrichment Clubs
A Partnership with the New Victory Theatre in New York City
Transportation for individual class trips
Scholarships for students in need for over night trips
Materials for Specials Teachers and projects
Maintaining the school web site
The PTSO participates in the greater community of Hoboken and makes donations to charities in need by organizing food and clothing drives. |
